I am currently employed by a company that develops software solutions around the Syspro ERP system. While I don't believe there is any reason why I should not mention the company here, I would prefer to speak to the CEO before mentioning the company's name on here. Whatever I say on here, is in any event my own thoughts and does not represent the company I am employed by.
We have a great deal of experience in developing software for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), especially releases being imported into Syspro from others systems (mainly within the motor industry), Warehouse management and Barcode scanning as well as a very strong Syspro consulting and implementation division.
My main focus has been in warehouse management / barcode scanning and EDI.
Apart from the pure Syspro consulting side, our company has had extensive experience in developing warehouse management systems to integrate with the Syspro backend. With a large customer base throughout South Africa where we have developed and implemented a warehouse management solutions, I believe we have probably covered every conceivable scenario in integrating the manufacturing processes into the Syspro backend. The bulk of the solution is offered in the form of a barcode scanning system which generally integrates to the Syspro Work In Progress (Jobs) module by means of the Syspro e.Net business objects. This generally covers every process from the receiving of raw materials, where the first set of barcode labels will be printed, through to picking stock items onto a picklist within dispatch. As a seperate process, once barcoding has been inplemented, it always makes sense to provide a stocktake module as well. The time requested for a stocktake within a large warehouse/manufacturing environment is drastically reduced with barcode scanning. Although we have developed a fairly extensive development framework for warehouse management around the Syspro backend, we have also integrated similar solutions to other ERP systems. I personally developed a barcode scanning system which integrates to Protean.
One of my key responsibilities is the support of an EDI system that manages releases being imported into Syspro (Releases IN). The system is used by companies within the motor industry to manage release requirements from OEM's and other customers. Although I have personally not had any experience with the others, I know that our company also has other EDI solutions for handling ASN's and Releases OUT.
Although my envolvement has maily been in the Warehouse Management and EDI systems, I have developed a fairly good knowledge of the Syspro data structures. I have been involved in developing a couple of Web Based management reports and other data extraction and manipulation systems, but I know that some of the other developers within the company has also developed various other systems which I am not qualified to comment on.
